(Follower of) José Guadalupe Posada, Possibly after Manuel Manilla. Stylistically inspired by Posada, sometimes so much so that the piece was mistakenly attributed to him. La Calavera Huertista, an etching of a many-legged, skull-headed creature surrounded by the wreckage of other, half-devoured calaveras. Named for Victoriano Huerta, a general who helped overthrow the Mexican President, the print refers to events that happened after Posada’s death. Paper size: 15.5 x 11.5. Frame size: 18 x 16
